SAN DIEGO UNION TRIBUNE: Republican John Cox talks about taxes, teachers and transportation on the bus in San Diego

Republican Gubernatorial candidate John Cox last week finished his statewide bus tour at a homeless shelter in San Diego. The event marked the end of a hectic five days for Cox who made more than 30 stops across the state as he runs against Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom.

Before Cox went home to sleep in his own bed in Rancho Santa Fe for the first time in a long while — and maybe relax watching a movie or a baseball game — his campaign invited a reporter from The San Diego Union-Tribune to join him on his “Help is on the Way” tour bus as it made its way around the city. Here’s what he had to say:
