Californians have a real choice for governor this fall. As expected, Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Kentfield resident, finished first in the “jungle” primary in June. Businessman John Cox, a Republican, emerged from a crowded field of better-known candidates to finish second.
With big advantages in party registration and money, Newsom is the heavy favorite, but a recent poll showed Cox within striking distance. Could an upset be in the making?
